Share and Markup

Sharing real-time feedback and iterating on your work has become effortless with SOLIDWORKS. Just share a link, similar to eDrawings, without any installations or physical file transfers required. The best part? It all works seamlessly from any browser.

SOLIDWORKS License Changes

SOLIDWORKS has recently announced changes to the subscription structure and pricing of their licenses, set to take effect on July 1, 2023. Below we outline how these changes may impact your business.

Cloud Services

The first change is the integration of Cloud Services. This product offers users access to 3DEXPERIENCE cloud data management.

  • Starting in July 2023, all new purchases of SOLIDWORKS Desktop CAD licenses (Perpetual, Term, Standalone, or Network) will include Cloud Services as part of the Subscription.
  • All existing SOLIDWORKS Desktop CAD Subscription licenses will have the opportunity, for a nominal fee, to upgrade to Subscription with Cloud Services, but they will have the flexibility to continue to renew their usual Subscription, if they prefer.
  • New subscription and term licenses of SOLIDWORKS Desktop CAD products will experience an uplift in price. This price increase only applies to the Desktop CAD products and not the entire desktop portfolio (such as PDM, Simulation, Composer, etc.). However, the uplift in price is still a fraction of the cost of the additional value of Cloud Services.

Subscription Changes

For new customers or existing customers looking to add new licenses, it is important to understand how new licenses will be sold on July 1, 2023.

  • All new SOLIDWORKS Desktop Perpetual licenses (CAD, Simulation, PDM, etc.) will require a minimum of two years of subscription.
  • If you choose not to renew your Subscription after two years, your Desktop license will be perpetual; however you will no longer have access to Cloud Services for CAD, version upgrades, and support.
  • After the 2-year subscription period, licenses can be renewed annually.
