National Engineer Week Spotlight – Max Kent

Max Kent National Engineers Week

Meet Max, our Senior PDM Applications Engineer at GSC. Max joined the company in July 2017 as a Technical Support Engineer and has since progressed to his current role.

One of Max’s favorite parts of his job is restoring customers’ environments to try and reproduce any issues they are experiencing with SOLIDWORKS PDM. He enjoys the challenge of developing a deeper understanding of the software and working to provide customers with the best possible solution to their problems.

Working closely with the Engineering Services group, Max and his team handle consulting-related projects for SOLIDWORKS PDM that fall outside of subscription support (upgrades, administrator and user training, implementation, data migration, admin services, environment customizations, etc). As a cross-functional team, each member has their specialty, but they all possess a well-rounded experience level to tackle any SOLIDWORKS PDM-related project.

Max’s inspiration to become an engineer stems from working on motorcycles with his dad. His parents owned a Harley-Davidson import, export, and repair business, where they had a family friend who was an engineer for Harley-Davidson. He said “Working on the motorcycles with my dad inspired me to go to school for mechanical engineering.”

What inspires Max outside of his professional life? Here’s what he had to share:

What’s the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

If you could swap lives with anyone in the world for 24 hours, who would it be and why?

What technology innovation made the most impact on your life?

Guitar effects processors that emulate real-life amplifiers and speaker cabinets

If you could travel back to any decade, which would you pick and why?
